I am trying to remove the headlamp unit to fix the reflector back in place as I accidentally dislodged it when fitting the plastic electrical connector back on one of the bulbs. I managed to get the unit completely unbolted (also involves removing indicator unit) so it will move around but I cannot the unit completely free. It looks like I have to remove the bumper to do this? I'm hoping I don't - can anyone help - is there something I've missed?

Many thanks in advance.
Pete

It can be done but you need to bend the bumper away by puliing on it and twist the light free at the same time. You wil need 2 people and it's entirely possible you will put a small groove in the bumper when you remove it. It's very hard the first time and just as hard the second but still easier than taking off the bumper. You may find that the small plastic parts inside the lamp that connect the reflector to the housing have been broken (very weak, get flexed every time you adjust the lights and pulled about when you change the bulbs - bad design). Volvo will tell you that you need to buy 2 new headlights. You don't. They do a maintenance kit which contains the small plastic pieces and a couple of bits you don't need for a lot less money. The part no. for the kit is 30621936. It's about Ģ11 per light

Will look into the kit and get an extra pair of hands on my next attempt.

Many thanks.

I managed to do this on my own. You have to undo the bolts holding the unit in place. (after removing all the electrically stuff at the back.)Then carefully lift it out, I had to bend the bumper a bit, and push some tube gently to one side ,which I think was from the climate control thingy.

My inside reflector had broken off so I glued it on again with some mega strong glue. Now theres been building sites popping up like moles in a field and I ended up hitting a hole at high speed, so Its come off again so guess what Im doing tomorrow?

Well it all went well until the Tube I bent broke and loads of gas and green slime came hissing out. My climate control didnīt work anyway so it doesnīt bother me too much.
