I'm heading toward a new set of tyres on my T5, the car currently has Pirelli P6000's but I understand that while competent, they are not the best tyre for performance driving.

I'm tempted by Goodyear Eagle F1's which have won lots of group tests, I also fancy Toyo Proxy's. Wet grip is important and wet braking also, dry grip must also be good, tyre life not an issue.

What do you guys reccommend.

Decided on Goodyear Eagle F1 as they won so many tyre tests and are particularly good at wet handling & wet braking. Stopping a full 10 metres ahead of the nearest competitor from 70mph in Autocar's test.

Bought from Black Circles in the UK for £303 delivered, bargain price £100 cheaper than locally even after fitting. Already I note that the car no longer squeels under hard acceleration, it did on the Pirelli's, will be even better when scrubbin in.

These are great tires. I've used them on 2 cars before. I do want to point out 2 things that you're probably already aware of:

1. These are "summer tires" only. They are not capable of handling snow.
2. These, like all Max Perf. tires, are going to be worn out in about 15,000 miles.

Yeah I know they are useless on snow but it hasn't snowed here since 1991. I'd be happy to get 15000 miles, I'd figured on 10,000 even if I rotate.

Grip really is in a different league, I'm actually looking forward to it raining so I can test them.

People undrestimate the importance of tyres, it's the only point of contact with the road. I threw away the Pirellis with 3 mm of tread left, I saw a guy at the garage replacing Pirellis that were bald, why would you let it get to that point.

OK I know 3mm is still OK but I want the most grip I can get, £300 is a small price for your safety, no good having the most sophisticated safety systems in the world on your car if it can't grip the road.

DSC not flashing like crazy anymore, can't reccommend these tyres highly enough.
