Hello !

I have an S40 T5 2007. I often forget to close my sunroof or windows and I was wondering if there was a way to close the windows or sunroof with the key... I tried but got nothing :S

Also.. Is there a way to know what firmware version I have (So that I know if I need to go to the dealer for updates..)

Thanks !

You should just press and hold the lock button for about 5 seconds and then all windows/sunroof will close. There is a big topic and poll on swedespeed at the moment regarding this as it appears to be random as to which cars get the function. Try holding the lock key and if it doesnt work go to the dealer and they should be able to make it work. You should aslo be able to do the opposite by holding the unlock button.

Hi I'm thinking of getting a 2004.5 S40 and my father has an '06 S40. So I was wondering if this is only a feature for '07s or if other years have it too?

EDIT: Just went to that Swedespeed site. Sorry for posting first :(

For anyone else to save you time:
In the US, it seems to vary. Most 06's have it disabled. In the UK you'll likely have it. US cars also typically only have the press and hold unlock to open while press and hold lock to close doesn't work.

I have 2006 S40 FWD and I can close windows and sunroof with my keys as described by CJW.

If you have a 06 or 07 car model and this don't work, you only need a firmware upgrade because this is standard for all volvo s40 T5

Nope! It won't work with 2007 north american models. I went to my dealership and they told me that they have disabled that option. I asked if there was a firmwire upgrade to unable it.. They said no :(

I didn't think the window open feature was working from my remote because it took so long compared to a similar feature on my other car, a non-Volvo. But if I'm patient and keep the unlock button pushed constantly for about 5-7 seconds the windows will drop. I haven't tried to get them to go back up yet - is it supposed to work with the lock button?

The window drop feature is helpful in cooling off the car after it's been parked in the sun on hot days.

The feature only works with rolling down the windows and it only works on the T5 models. I have a 2007 S40 2.4i and it doesnt work but on my brothers 07 T5 it works...

I hope this info. was helpfull.

The roll down by remote feature definitely works on my 2005 S40 2.4i.

I mentioned before that I have no problems dropping the windows on my '05 2.4i by steadily holding the unlock button on the key. Tonight I tried to see if it was possible to roll-up the windows by holding down the lock button on the remote. Answer: no.

I spoke with my dealer and the remote controlled windows option was taken out from all 2007 models !!
So if you have a 2007 model, it won't work. Any model before 2007 should work. !

Has he told you why?

I have a 2005 model T5 and it does not work but I have read that you can request the featureand that it is a software option.

Yeh he said that they took the optoin off as too many people were having their windows accidently open when their keys were in their pockets.. (Stupid people :P)

I hope there will be a patch for the 2007 models for people who wish to have that option. If anyone knows if a patch is release, please let us know !

Thanks

I am hooked up with all the options  , this weekend the dealer set up my remote control to lower the all windows, except the sunroof which is fine, on a previous visit he “fixed” the roll-up functionality, including closing the sunroof.
Also now the windows can be controlled up/down all at the same time by pressing the lock/unlock button on the drivers door.
The best part is that this was done at no cost!
It really makes a difference to get into the drivers seat if you let the interior “breathe” a bit with an outside temperature of +100°F that are reach very often during summer on where I live or closing all the windows from inside my home if its starts raining heavily or just to impress your friends.
I have to mention that I use others experience on this forum to ask for it to my dealer, otherwise never realize this was an option, or he will came up with an excuse, so

Mine is a 2006 S40

I have a 2004.5 S40 T5 SE and both up & down (open & close for the sunroof) work from the key.

on your 2005 model (or any model prior to 2007) YES ! A simple update will fix it !

On all 2007 models, there is no update :(
