I recently purchased a 1998 V90 wagon with 76k miles for $6k. There are a couple problems. Clicking rattle coming from front end- sounds like drivers side wheel. Sound stops when brakes are applied. Car also pulls to the left (at any speed). Tire wear looks uniform although it could use new tires. Both power seats are stuck. Passenger does nothing, driver's clicks and tries to move but won't- I have seen the other posts and suppose I will remove the seat to look for cable malfunctions but usually when someone says it as a 2 hour job, that means all day for me. Finaly, and unusually one of the most annoying, the driver's side sun visor hover's about half way- exacly at eye level.

Thanks for any input,

DA

The rattling and the pulling sounds like you need to have the front end looked at by a specialist. Wouldnt have bought the car myself with a problem as big as that.
Where are you located? I have a great Volvo guy here in Orlando.

Thanks for the reply,

Yea, unfortunately I didn't notice the rattle when I bought it (it's pretty subtle). Had a specialist in Greenville, SC (Eurocar Specialists) look at it prior to a trip to VA. He said left and right bushings need to be replaced eventually but should be good for a few thousand miles. Also said it was not a safety hazzard but I don't feel too good about my wife and kids riding around with the car that way so I plan to have it fixed sooner. He though the subtle pull to the right was due to the worn bushings but we put new tires on the car and that fixed the pull although I suppose uneven tire wear could be a sign of bigger problem. Said it would be about $600 parts and labor to replace the 4 bushings.

Also said it would be about $250 per seat to fixt the stuck seats. Probably tackle that myself unless I can get a better price.

Anyway, drove the car 1000 miles in three days and performed great. Very happy so far, even with the few issues. Thanks again.

I bought my S90 after it had been stored for over two years. Had to replace all the bushings, most hoses, the battery, the fuel sending unit, most interior bulbs, and the engine heat sensor. Spent around $2000. But the car only cost me $2000 to start with 60k on the clock! Touch wood it's been great for over a year now.
My passenger seat wont move. But the driver's will so I'm not stressing that!
Good luck with your S90. It's a great car.
