My V50 tailgate will not open - any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't no if this is a first! but i am posting the answer to my own question.............my V50 tailgate has been locked for the last 7 days and nobody at Volvo has been able to help me. I was told by another V50 owner to push the tailgate handle/button and at the same time to hit the rear number plate.
The tailgate opened the first time i did this and has been fine since.

i really hope this helps anyone else who has the same problem.
