What low-cost performance upgrades can be done to a 1986 Volvo 740 Wagon Turbo with an intercooler and manual transmission.

Might I suggest a cold air intake. Prob an '86 would do good with a manual boost controller as opposed to an ECU upgrade, which would be more expensive. Then there is always the downpipe and exhaust, but that can get expensive. An exhaust/muffler shop might be a little cheaper though.

Be careful how much boost you add to the "K" series B230ft engine, they use a small rod which is prone to failure if the boost is increased too much, also the Canadian ECU for that year cannot be upgraded. The comments on exhaust is very good, adding a LITTLE more boost is OK
