i just bought a 1991 740 turbo wagon from my uncle, it was a VERY reasonable price. BUT the only problem is that it looses oil. but it looses it very fast, it will have the same amount of oil for hundreds of kilometers, then randomly loose about 2 liters, and it is checked very regularly. there is no where where it is leaking, and it never has any sort of blue smoke. does anyone know what this could be?

thanks

Hi,

When it does decide to randomly lose oil, what driving conditions are you putting it through?

I mean, Will it lose the oil when you use the car to nip to the shops and back a few times or is it when you are doing a long motorway journey?

it could be a dodgy rear crank case seal. mine was out and sometimes it wouldnt leak any then i would do 40 or 50 miles check the oil and it was all gone, obviously leaked out onto the road whilst i was driving without me noticing.
