I have a 95 850 glt and the sunroof worked great and everything one day it just wouldnt roll back it goes up and vents and closes fine but wont roll back it starts to go back and then just stops like its stuck the motor clicks like its working but wont roll the sunroof back

does it need to be greased?

something stopping it? loose part?

or is the motor bad and too weak to roll it back?

<_<

thanks for the help???

Ye sounds like it should have been greased ages ago before it got to the point of jamming like that.

If your willing to risk it, get a helper to press the switch while you push the sunroof back just to sort of help it along.

Roll it back nut not fully incase it wont come back again. absolutely soak everything in WD40 to free it up. Dont go too nuts or you may get it on your roof lining inside. Get into every nook and cranny then get it to wind open and closed a few times.

After you get it rolling ok, wipe all the excess WD40 out of all the rails etc then use a good quality spray grease on the runners to get into the most inaccessable bits followed by a good moly grease afterwards.

Work it a few more times to get the grease into the mechanism and it shouldnt give you a problem again for a while.

got it

The whole two person thing didnt work sunroof didnt even budge but i took off the little black protectors on the sides by pulling back on them and then put a little greese on them, then the sunroof rolled back and i put more greese on the rail and everything moved the sunroof back and forth a few times then put a little more greese on it, snapped the little black protectors on and that was it .

works better then it did when i got the car!

always appriciate the help love the site and the people!

With the window in the up vent position, they run parallelto the tracks. they actually ride on pegs that stick out of the sunroof glass itself. just push straight back and they will pop off. you might not even have them. one of mine didn't have them and the previous owner had no idea what I was talking about.

You guys (and the internet) are great, I had the same problem today out of the blue. I started to panic, and then I came here and read the cure and voila!! No worries.

Thanks.

the info is a+ but i would only use wd40 to get it unstuck, but for a longer lasting effect, use a thicker lithium grease, that white stuff thats already in ther, but you washed the rest of it out with the wd40, wd40 CLEANS and lubes, good but dries in time and dosent block out moisture. So, since you got it moving again, lube it properly, and make sure its draining water properly also, some ducks get clogged up and owners never know. I tell my wife not to ride in the rain with the vent up, water gets inside with road grime and jams the tracs.
