Volvo installed Bluetooth in my 2006 XC-90 last summer. It worked great with my Verizon Razor phone for the past year. Still works fine with my wife's Razor.

I "upgraded" to a Verizon Palm Treo 700p last month never thinking about checking into problems. It will rarely connect to the Volvo Bluetooth and when it does the call is dropped or there is no audio. Sometimes once connected it causes the Palm to soft reboot on it's own and the Bluetooth connection is not re-established. Short of it -- the Volvo and Treo are not on the same team!

Is there any upgrade available for the Volvo Bluetooth system?

I'm so disappointed to have spent $400 to have this installed and unusable. And it worked so well with the Razor phone. Other than this problem I'm very impressed with the XC-90.

Thanks!

There are many issues with the Verizon palm 700P's BT. They run an older version than what is in your Volvo. I have to pull my palm's battery on a regular basis to keep it working in my XC70.

Verizon has rescently released an update that may address the BT problem. I am looking at that this weekend.

Oz,
Thanks for the info! Please let me know what you learn. I have to remove the battery from my Palm every couple of days anyway because it locks up even without trying to connect with the Volvo BT. The Palm is great when it works but it's been a disappointment when it comes to reliability (unlike the Volvo itself which is a wonderful vehicle!) David

For those of you struggling with compatibility issues between the Verizon 700P and Volvo's BT, the solution is here.

The long awaited Verizon MR was released on 7/13. Among a lot of things, the MR updates the Verizon 700P's BT. I downloaded the file, updated the Verizon 700P, restored my data, paired the phone with my Volvo BT, and it WORKED! The phone paired without having to pull the battery.

The phone update took 32 minutes. Read and follow the instructions very carefully.

"THIS IS A COMPLETE KIT. BUYER SHOULD CHECK MOTOROLA WEBSITE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CELL PHONE IS COMPATIBLE. KIT P/N8640101 HARNESS P/N8640105. "

Quote is from Red Bank Volvo's web site.. not sure what year/HU it works with. How well this works is highly dependent on you cell phone AND carrier.
