My son overheated his 1994 940 non-turbo wagon this past week when he had the water pump go bad, and as I prepare to repair the engine I want to know if this is an interference engine. I assume I will be redoing the head gasket and machining the head flat after the temps he reached when overheating. I still need to do a compression check but I expect the worst. Any and all thoughts/comments appreciated. I did this same job on a 1991 740 and hope the job is mostly the same.

That is what I needed. Thanks. The machine shop quoted $40.00 to machine the head flat so I will tear the engine down in the next few days. It was 96 degrees out today so too hot to start.

Steve

Just saw you are from Israel. How cool is that for a reply.

Hi Steve,

You can get more info from:

http://www.swedishbricks.net/700900FAQ/FAQSummary1.html

96 degrees! that's even hotter then what we have here (about 85 max today), but usually we have about a 100 (and 90% humidity too).
I live in Tel-Mond which is a small town like yours (about 6000 ppl) 20Km north of Tel-Aviv.

Alon
