Hi,

The turn signals on my car are fussy - sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. It seems that they don't work when I first try to use them the first couple of times, but after that, they seem to work fine. I changed the fuse and when I first tried them they worked. However, the next morning, the same thing happened. They didn't work when I first tried them the first couple of times and then they worked fine. Any ideas ?

Thanks.

By the way I am new to this forum and it is great!!!

Ron.

Hey there,

Having same problem with my 2000 S40.

Would be interested in knowing if you ever resolved.

Will advise in kind if we ever figure it out.

Cheers,

My 2000 S40 has started doing this also. The way I get them to work again is to turn on the hazard warning lights then turn them off. The turn signals start working again every time I do this (so far). It's the weirdest thing.

My left indicator has developed a fault, it just stays on all the time, even without my key in the ignition, if I put the hazrds on, they just stay on constant instead of flashing. drained my battery yesterday, i've had to unplug the battery from the car, anyone help before i ask Volvo to charge me £1M to fix it?

I have the same problem and I do the same thing (turn on the hazards and turn them off) and they work for a while then they don't again. Somewhere in this forum someone said it was a problem with the hazard switch itself. Right now, I can deal with it but might look a little closer at the hazard switch or replace it.

About two weeks ago, my left blinker became much louder and much more rapid than the right turn signal. It still works every time and does not stay on when switched off so I just use it sparingly (dont turn it on when i am waiting at a long light). It is not worth paying anything to fix but if anyone had a similar issue I would love to hear if and how they solved it.

That issue with a rapid blinker usually entails another light out on that side....when my parking light was out on the front...the turn signal was rapid and louder...once the PK light was fixed problem solved....this is stated somewhere in the manual

at a guess it will be either......

1. the hazzard switch
2. indicator relay (in passenger fuse box)
3. indicator/healight dip switch (if have one)
4. the wires inbetween all the above
5. the whole passenger side fusebox (unlikely)
6. indicator storks.

bear in mind they just a guess :57: but you should be in the right areas there.

and yes rapid blinking means you got a bulb out on that side somewhere normally.

hope that helped :)

your relay is weak, I had the same problem. Now, the signal lever does not click back after making turns....I could take the column apart and fix it, but its second-nature now to shut them off
