Is there any class action suit activity going on for the ABS module problem? I need to figure out when I can be w/o my car for a week, so I can get mine into Victor (or anyone else). My dealer either had no clue that the speedometer stopping and ABS/Tracs light coming on were unrelated, or they refused to acknowledge that the two were related. They read the code that said the ABS module needed work, of course, and wanted me to spend $1000 to replace it. But if the new modules have problems, too, and guys like Victor have been able to refurbish them for so long and so cheaply, comparitively, then why can't a reputable company like Volvo figure this out, and perform the repairs themselves? I kinda regret buying a Ford-Volvo, and wish I would've settled for an older 850 wagon. I love our 850, it's been bulletproof. But my 2-year newer V70 XC has given me massive headaches! To think that I bought a Volvo to minimize those headaches...

I have been having a problem that the Volvo dealer said is due to my ABS module. The ABS and Trac. Control light come on intermittantly when I am driving. When I shut off the motor and turn it back on, it stops.
I took it too a local car repairman, who couldn't figure it out - they said no codes came up during diagnoses. Is there an ABS class action suit?
I would hate to spend the money if this is true?

I don't know about a class action or recall, doubt there is one, but the Vic Rocha thing worked out great for me. It's worth noting, of course with all attendant disclaimers that you shouldn't, that you can drive your car without the module in.

It never ceases to amaze me how dealers are “unaware” of problems. They see 100’s of cars a week and of those cars they start seeing the same problems over and over.

I once had a Dodge minivan that kept loosing the center caps from the rims. It lost all 4 in the first 1000 miles. I went to the dealer and they replaced them. Within the next 1000 miles they had come off again. At the next service I asked for more and was told that I needed to pay for this set because it must be the way I was driving. We was not happy and left to get into my van that had been pulled around front for me and proceeded to get into the wrong white van! Why? Because it was also missing the center caps. . . . . I looked around the service area and saw more vans and cars with the same wheel stile and guess what? They were missing the center caps. I went back in to the service counter and asked if all Dodge owners were over driving their vehicles! I received a new set and guess what? They now had a steel insert that kept them from popping out.
