Hi All,
I've read the posts concerning replacement of this cup holder unit. One person said that it was easy to replace "just snaps in and out". Well, I've had my replacement part for over 8 months. It sits in the floorboard of my car because I can't figure out how to get the old one out.
I get how the new one goes in because I can see the little retaining things, two on top and two on bottom. However, what do you use to disengage these to get the old one out?

-Do I stick something in the front and push on them?
-Do I take the radio out and try from the back to push on them?
-Do I have to push on all 4 at the same time?

I would really like to take care of this myself since I got laid off from my job last month. It just can't be that hard!
Thanks!

I took my cup holder out several months back and if I remember correctly, you just need to partially pull it out and look at what piece is retaining the holder.

I would go out and see how to do it now, but my cupholder broke months ago!!!

Where did you get your new cup holder and what did it cost?

Thanks! And good luck!

Well, my cup holder still sits in the floorboard of my car. I've push, pulled, using long knives to try and pop the clips loose--all to no avail. I have the new one. I know where it's being held in. I can't it the darn thing out!

I got my replacement holder from the dealer. There doesn't seem to be another place. It cost $85--rip-off!

If you still haven't had this fixed, go to your local library and see if they subscribe to "ALLDATA" or one of the other vehicle repair databases. There are usually step by step instructions for how to take things apart and then (the best part) put them back together. It will also usually tell you if there are certain tools needed. My local library has a subscription for ALLDATA and I have gotten all kinds of info off there for both of my cars.

I feel your pain, my cupholder broke years back and I did the same thing you did. Finally I took it into the dealer when I needed other work done on it (while on warranty). They fixed it in literally like 3 minutes, so I imagine it's a very easy fix, just not totally obvious to people like us!! Good luck.

On another point, who in the world put the cupholder there in the first place?!?!? Can't change CDs, can barely see the radio and now that I installed XM, I can't even use the cupholder. I have a new XM mount in the mail to me right now to fix that!
