I've been experiencing some over heating of my car lately, but after a few minutes it would be gone. Then after a couple of days, it would go back again.

Do I have to replace some of the parts like the Volvo Water Pump? Because as what I remembered, this is one of the possible reasons why sometimes a car over heats. Or do I need to replace other parts than this?

so does it happen after driving a long time then coming to a stop?

need more exact info on what happens, could be a water pump but your car is pretty new, could be that the radiator is bad, i think that you car has the radiator that is part plastic and part aluminum, i dont trust them one bit, or it could be a thermostat or a sensor tuff to tell with over heating problems but if you could tell me more i think i could help because i have experienced every over heating situtation possible.

Yes more info would be great so we can help.

Best to start simple.

Has the car been for a service recently? Might have left the rad fan unplugged?

The only real sensor fault to cause this would be the temp gauge sender and when they fail they normally just never move from the cold position.

Pushing away from the obvious slightly it could be a jammed thermostat. If it is jammed shut r not opening fully with engine warm it restricts flow to the rad.

Best way to check the thermostat is to run the engine from cold then as the engine reaches its normal temp on the gauge, feel the top hose going to the rad, if it stays cold as the temp of the engine goes to overheat it could well be faulty.

Usually this problem happens when I'm on the road, I've experienced it about twice or thrice few weeks before.

And my car has not been serviced recently.

But thanks to some of your advice. I'll try to call my friend to help me check my car, I'm not that technical about these kind of stuffs.
