The condition is the vehicle has a hard start condition after it has run (warmed up) and sat for a short period of time (10-15 minutes). The forums suggested the Thermo Time Switch, and I replaced it this weekend. The condition still exists.

I checked the voltage to the cold start valve after the Thermo Time Switch was installed. It briefly went to 8.5, then 9 (all in less than one second) then back to zero (not O.L). Is there a different way to test the voltage to the cold start injector to see if it energizes? I have read on this forum that the cold start injector is supposed to read 12V.

The fuel check valve was serviced in 12/2006. Could that still be suspect? Where is it and how do I check it?

so 1982?

is this still a K-Jetronic system? [you mention cold start injector]

I believe so. From the searches I've read the K-Jetronic seems to match. It has 4 injectors plus 1 cold start injector on the top of the intake manifold.

Is there a tell-tale indicator that it's a K-Jetronic? If so, I'll go double-check.

trace injectors and see if they go to a distributor

I did some research but it is a K-Lambda (CIS) Bosch system. I have obtained a copy from Snap-On regarding the details of the engine.

It starts up good cold. After it warms up and sits for a while, then it is a long start and the RPMs are low until I snap the throttle... then the idle stabilizes.

Reading more about the system, it says some vehicles may have a "Hot Start Pulse Relay System". This system permits the cold start valve to pulse fuel into the manifold until the engine starts.

Does the Volvo 240 have this system (1982)? If so, where would the relay be?
