BMW is discussing a possible purchase of Ford's Volvo Cars unit, the Financial Times reported, citing two people "close to the situation."

BMW has reviewed Volvo's financial data and is "exploring" an acquisition of the Swedish unit, the Mergermarket Web site reported, citing one of the unnamed people. A Ford spokesman told Bloomberg "the report is speculation and we don't comment on speculation."
