So I get to my Park&Ride lot in the mornings and wait there for my bus to show up. I notice that after about 3 minutes some light blue or brownish smoke starts to float by my window. It is actually fairly heavy smoke.

It is quite embarrassing. I noticed one time in the winter my garage filled with smoke when I started the car and let it idle to warm up (super cold day). And the garage was very stinky. My wife commented that she noticed it when she went to work that day about 30 mintues after I left.

I haven't had any engine performance messages come on the dash in quite a while so I'm assuming it is running ok.

Any idea what this could be?

It's a 2002 S60 AWD

Thanks!

Based on the light blue/brownish description of the smoke, I'll guess you have some oil burning/smoldering somewhere in a nook or cranny. I remember one time a wasp stung me as I was doing an oil change and I accidently poured some Mobil 1 outside of the fill spout. It was of course a non-trivial task to take off all of the various parts on the top of the motor so that I could clean up the spilled oil. I thought I did a fairly complete job, but apparently not as I has some smoking for the next couple of drives.

With that said, I would be concerned about finding the source of any smoke that persists for more than a couple of days.

Good luck!

As Robinson Crusoe said, blueish smoke would be oil.

I'll pay a little closer attention to the color next time it happens. It doesn't smoke when I'm at a stop light - just when it idles for a few minutes it seems.

Yes seems to be a blueish gray smoke.

Any chance this could be a clogged breather box? Or is it most likely the turbo?

And if you think it is the turbo, I bought new oil seals for it, could just replacing those possibly clean it up?

Thx
