Just finished wiring up my headunit to my car - but haven't installed it fully yet:

I bought the following leads:

PC2-37-4 (halfords) ISO to harness

VOL02RCA (soundlinx) DIN to RCA

Everything's fine - it powers on and i get sound through the speakers and it sounds absolutely fantastic at quite loud levels - however when the volume is down a little i can hear interference/static - which you can imagine is pretty annoying - hence why i've not finished the install as i obviously want to get to the bottom of this first..

has anyone had similar problems or can point me in the right direction???

If wired properly I would try adjusting the gain controls on the factory amplifier if it has them. Looking at your pictures its hard to tell how the wires are hooked up. You say you hear noise and static at low levels. How low? Is this all the way down, or at a medium level. What kind of interference? Is this engine whine that you are describing?

i'm not sure of the stock amp has gain controls?..

it's not alternator whine (as it happens when the engine is off) - it kind of sounds like a radio station that isn't tuned in properly? lol! and it happens at very low volumes and then gets drowned out as the volume gets turned up..

my headunit has 4V Pre-outs so i think this might be what's causing the problem??.. everyone else that i know that has the same set up's headunits only have 2V pre-outs??..

is there a way of reducing the 4V Preout to 2V?...

Disregard my earlier comment about the gain controls. I removed my factory amp from my 99 and it only had the speaker and power plugs, and one DIN plug. The interference sounds too me as if you have the wrong RCA/DIN adapter. I would get a wire schematic and check it against the amp DIN plug to make sure its good for your C70. Check in your players owner manual, some radios only switch to 4v at very high volume levels. If your friends have identical setups look at each component individually.

the DIN cable i bought seems to be the problem - i bought a QBM aftermarket stereo harness and it works perfectly now and the SQ is amazing! :)

i've now filled the bottom din slot with an Omori 52mm gauge panel which i've got Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and boost gauges installed in:

You install looks great! I have a 2000 C70 and want to do the same thing. I took it to a local audio shop and they told me it couldn't be done because the C70 has 2 amps with proprietary plugs. Any chance you could walk me through what I need to buy and what I need to hook up to get all the speakers working and use the existing OEM amps? Thanks in advance!!!

I have a 2004 C70 with a SC-901 HU - Did you ever find a solution how to hook a new HU up with the amps? I am lost!
