I've bought a 2006 S40 2.4i with the premium package in the middle of the summer of 2006. I've had Honda Accords and Civics for the last 15 years and always wanted a Volvo.

This new rig is great and I'm realy enjoying it. But for the last few weeks I'v been having sporadic behavior on the part of the electric window contols and the unlock button (key and door). Sometime they work, sometime they dont...? Stoping the engin and removing the key then restarting the car seems to reset something and most of the time it fixes the issue. Kinda like rebooting your PC when it behaves strangely.

I've had to unlock the door with the metal stick a few times now and it's irritating at worst.

Has anybody had the same problem? Does a software upgrade solve this issue? Hope the car doesn't run Windows, coz I'de be in deep caca if it did ;-)

Thanks for any info.

I had a problem with the rear windows, I could roll them down but not back up unless I opened the doors, shut off the engine, or just waited several minutes/hours and tried again. Found that there is a Technical Service Bulletin about the connectors to the doors needing to be cleaned and re-greased. After the dealer tried this and it didn't work, they ended up replacing the window control module and have not had any problems since.

Hello,

Ive had the same problem on two seperate occasions now, both times the driver side of the car was completely dead (windows and the locking mechanism). First time it happened it worked again after a few minuets, the second time a few hours. Took it into the dealer, they have re-greased the conectors. I'll just have to wait and see whether its worked
