Hi, I had a 1988 240 DL which I had owned from day one (19 years of great service). It was totalled in an accident and I replaced it with a 1995 Volvo 850 GLE.

On a couple of occassions when I turn the key the car starts and then it quickly shuts off. This will happen a couple of times in a row. If I leave it for a few minutes and try again it starts fine as if there has been no problem. I have had the car for a couple of months. It has about 105,000 miles. Other than that the car has been running fine so far and I am enjoying it. Any suggestions as to what may be causing this?

Are your periodic maintenance on time?
Sometimes, a dirty air-filter can cause this too, as it suffocates the air out from the engine.

Aside from that, check the fuel-delivery system (the injector relay, the fuel pump relay/controller, the fuel-pump itself...)
