Hey all:Hope you are doing well. I need some help. My 2002 S80 T6 tires are all worn out and need replaced (63K miles on them, they are looking a mite bit bald). I was looking at tirerack.com and their recommended tire is the Michelin HX/MXM4 225 50 VR17. A cool tire except that its $200 per tire.

So does anyone have a good tire to recommend? One that is still good in the performance category, but maybe a few dollars cheaper? Even $175 to $180 could be palatable...

:) Call Discount Tires, probably one close to you and get a quote...So many places to get tire cost information, I'd shop around on line.....
I bought 4 BF Goodrich Tires for my Chevy Suburban thru Walmart on line..
They shipped to nearest store and or $9.95 per tire, they mounted, new stims, balanced, full warranty replacement, and balance/rotate every 5000 miles for as long as you own the vehicle....My total cost was less than $550.00 and these are much bigger tires than the S80 has....
You'd be surprised on the different prices for the same tire can be just checking on line..
PS...I have the same tire you've been quoted on my 2002 S80, T6, although hav'nt a clue what they cost.. I also have 17 inch rims..... Were on the car when I purchased...Good Luck

I bought my S80 T6, 67,000 miles last month and it came with new tires on it. The dealer replaced the tires prior to selling. I was surprised to find the tires were Korean, Nexen N3000 - 225/50/ZR17. I had never heard of them. They handle well but are a bit louder than I would have expected. The price however is $82.67 each. Total cost for four to the dealer was $330.68. The tire wear rating is 340. I have looked on line and can only find a few sites that carry info on these tires. I've been surprised by these tires and would recommend them if price is your major criteria. I have to say the car rides smoothly and is responsive in the mountainous curves I drive and does well on the highway. Then again I also drive a '94 Ford Explorer...Remember the Firestone folly?

I plan on replacing these Nexen tires after they wear down @30,000 miles ( I hope!) with a set of Michelin Pilot A/S they have a very good rating compared to the MXM4 at a similar price @ $190 each. Michelin states these are perhaps the most technologicly advanced tires they manufacture. I have always used Michelins. I get 80,000 miles on my Explorer on the LTX M/S. I'm on my third set now.
