The other day I had the misfortune of running out of petrol,I had 5 gallons of petrol in my garage so I put it into my Volvo not realising that the petrol was contaminated with about a gallon of diesel.The car ran OK for a couple of days then started to play up ie fast tickover,engine fan on most of the time, temp gauge reading off the scale,engine management light on all the time. I put 30 pounds worth of petol in the tank and covered over a 100 miles, the engine runs fine, the tickover seems to have returned to normal but the fan and engine light remain on, I have to remove the fuse to stop the fan. Other than take the car to a garage any clues as to what to do..
