2000 C70 - driver's seat won't fold forward when you raise the lever on the side of the seat. All electronic controls work perfect, but can't get the seat to fold forward for entry into the back seat.

I have the seat out of the car and have opened the upholstery at the bottom of the back portion of the seat - I can see the wire attached to the release lever on the side of the seat still appears to be moving properly.

Is this controlled by a micro switch or mechanical lever. I found two small plastic contacts that look like they would pop into a hole in the floorboard under the seat. Both of the plastic pieces are round, light green, and measure about an eighth of an inch in diameter and 1/4 inch tall.

Hi ELH...

Did you ever find a fix? My '99 C70 seat back is stuck forward. Springy things still intact. Tried pulling leather up to inspect cables but hung up on seat back release lever. How do you remove the lever?

Thanks.

Ralph

no need to remove the lever it looks fragile to me... all i did is pull out the plastic baking and rolled the back up as far as i could. Using a light torch and laying on the floor looking up i could see everything and work on the cables. Found two cables sharing one hook and one had come out causing the seat not to fold forward but the rest of mech was working fine. I managed to clamp the cable to the hook together with the other one and thats it...cable cost quoted around £35 plus but its not the cost its the difficult to run it....good luck

The knob on the lever pops off and the plastic casing pops out as well. I ended up finding my (seat release for folding forward) cable was broken and took the seat to a local shop to have it replaced. Didn't charge me but an hour labor since I had the seat out and apart already. I think the cable was around $75, but I can't find the ticket or I could give you the part number.

The cable does a horseshoe in the back cavity of the seat - from the release lever next to the door all the way to the other side of the seat where it releases the seat forward and also activates another cable that is connected to the motor that moves the seat forward after it folds forward.

Hope this helps.
