I'm new here and just bought a '98 V40 T4 w/120k. It needs new tires right away, and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend some good 4-season tires?
Thanks-Nick

The best tyres I have found for the T4 are Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s. They grip like **** to a blanket in both the wet and dry and are progressive when you push them too hard so there are no nasty supprises. The tread pattern helps reduce tyre noise which S/V40s are known for.

Although these are still available Goodyear have just brought out a newer high performance Eagle F1 tyre Called "Eagle F1 Asymmetric". I have yet to see or hear of anyone using them though but if they are better than the GSD3s then they will be truely amazing.

Here is an old tyre REVIEW for you to read.

My 2003 2T Sport came originally with 215/45/17 but have since upgraded to 225/45/17 and they literally just fit the arches using the original Volvo alloys. I would suggest that if you are having problems with the tyre and alloy clipping the inside of the wheel arches that you source alternative alloys with a different offset or you could put spacers at the top of the suspension strut to stop the hub carrier using the maximum amount of travel available, just bear in mind that you will need to do a 4 wheel alignment on the latter as the car may ride a little higher and you will scrub through tyres very quickly.
