After scouring these boards for possible reasons to ABS problems, I removed the ABS module to have it reconditioned. I've read that the brakes will work fine without the module (and they do...a bit "squishy", though) but I was surprised that my speedo/odo stopped working. I know that speedo malfunctions are also a sign of ABS module failure, but didn't expect total speedo failure. Is this normal? Anyone else have this problem with the ABS module removed?

Speed sensors send the signals to the ABS computer to be monitored. That signal is sent to the speedometer.

I have had my module reconditioned before and yesterday it acted up again. The first thing i noticed was my A/C was not acting normal. It would start cooling but then it would stop cooling. Shut the car off and turn it back on later and it would go back to working. I figured it was just a minor computer glitch since it cools fine. Well about an hour later I am going down the interstate and its stops cooling again and just a few minutes later my cruise kicks off. I am thinking what the heck, but I reapply the cruise and car acts fine until I get off the interstate. I go to speed back up and the car just does not want to go..... likes its stuck in first gear. The car will slowly build speed and at this time my speed works but my odo is blank and my abs and many other lights are on. i immediately think it must be my abs module again. the funny thing is when i get home and i try to restart the car it will not crank up. I let it sit for 10 minutes and the car cranks up fine and no lights are coming on. Well its the weekend so on Sunday my wife gets in the car to drive it around the neighborhood and it cranks up fine and backs out of the drive way. she puts it in drive and the lights come on and the vehicle is slow to build speed. this time however the car stalls on her just down the road. she goes to crank it and the vehicle is dead. So now I am confused. Is it my abs module or is my car battery dead and that is what caused all the problems or do I have two problems at once? Anyone ever had this happen to them when there ABS goes bad?

I had some very similar symptoms last week - turned out to be the alternator.

Your mileage may vary :) but I would check it.... could be a combo of the abs stuff and the alternator.
