While looking through maintenance records for my newly purchased (and non-running) 850 Turbo, I noticed that at some point the first owner installed an IPD ecu upgrade. I looked up the info on this ecu and IPD says that its supposed to increase hp to the upper 200 range (maybe 270ish I can't remember). The IPD info stated that this was achieved mostly by raising boost level from 7pounds to 14. First of all how is this achieved? My guess is that this car must have ecu wastegate control, maybe via a solenoid or something? The second question that I have is does anyone have any experience with this upgrade? Is it a noticeable improvement? It was a pleasant suprise to find this in the maintenance records. Now I want to get the car running even more.

Its ~27whp on the dyno so yes you feel it. You may also have the IPD exhaust as they recommend it with the ECU. Re: your first question. Yes the wastegate is ECU controlled via the BCS. If you look on the side of the airbox you will see it. Its the box with 3 vac lines doing to it

I've noticed the vac lines between the air filter box and the turbo and just thought they must be emissions related. Huh thats pretty cool. Maybe if I ever get my electrical issues sorted out I'll be able see if its fast or not. Thanks for the info.
