Hey guys this is my first post, i definitely think this site is pretty cool and might be pretty helpful to me, since i do alot of work on my car (94 850 SW turbo), and sometimes, need some different opinions than my mechanic friend, (we're both around age 17).

Well my question right now, is about installing some subs, 12 inch ones to be exact. I bought subs and an amp, and when i went to go hook them up, we couldnt find an audio jack behind the stereo for the interconnect cable from sub to stereo. BTW I have the stock stereo for the car. I spent around 50$ for the subs and wiring (great deal i think), and i was wondering if someone could maybe tell me either; a different way to hook-up the subs; how much a professional mod on the stereo would cost; or whether or not i should buy a new stereo (which i was gonna do within a year anyway, for an ipod jack)

Thanks for your help, and im looking forward to talking about some volvos

Sounds like your trying to find an RCA connection to send an audio signal to your amplifier. You will need to use a line level converter to go from high level(speaker wires) to low level(RCA's). This can be found in any car audio store. Check your amplifer and see if it has one built into it. Changing to an aftermarket radio would give you this type of connection. Not sure on your budget, but you could probably get an aftermarket cdplayer with an aux in for around a 100 dollars. The adapter is around 10-35 dollars depending on the quality. Good luck.

awesome, thanks for replying, that helps alot, i didnt know you could buy a converter for the amp.

I guess im a newbie with the speaker wiring, so i just need a confirmation on some things.

1) ok so behind the stereo in the 1994 850 Turbo, there are 3 sets of wires coming from it, 2 that look like a bundle of wires going to the various speakers, and the other looks like the power that is going to the stereo from the battery (please critique me if im wrong)

2) You said that you could buy a converter for the high level speaker wire to go to the low level (RCA), so i was wondering what the converter would hook-up to, or, would any speaker wire in the care be fine.

3) by converting to the RCA for the amp, i dont want to be stopping any connection to any of the speakers in the car (i dont even know if this is gonna be a problem, but again, im a newbie)

If anyone could clear this up (maybe MKC70 because u sound like a pro at this wiring thing) that would be awesome

Thanks.
