Hi

I have a 1994 volvo 440. I had a after market radio installed, which has now been stolen. I am trying to fit the old one, but as the wiring adaptor went with the stolen radio, i am at a loss.

The radio was fitted at halfords.

I am trying to figure out what the original colours and sized wires mean in the volvo, so that I can wire it up to a spare adaptor that I have, which unfortunately used the new colour scemes.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks
David

hi i know this doesnt help much but beware of the haynes wiring diagram
i have a 940 estate im putting a 850 960 premium stereo into with some modification of everywhere lol.
the wiring diagram in haynes says acc+= yellow and black but it also has this colour down as right rear speaker + i tried all the wires with a bulb on a wire (put the - to earth and touch the bare ends from the harness if it lights 12v+ )
once you have eliminated all the power ones (acc by turning ignition on while holding wire to a previously dead end ) take a aa battery and touch to - and a dead wire if it is a speaker wire you will hear a scratching noise from the speaker
this all takes a while but removes the guess work
:) just another thought the leccy ariel wire colour is on the ariel base the only one that is also in the radio harness
