hi
can anyone please help me my 02 v40 1.8 gdi has started to idle too slow about 300 rpm, this causes the engine to stall at road junctions or traffic lights other wise the car is running great (no misfires and gives a good performance) the problem seemed to happen after the battery was disconnected . the car uses a fly by wire system for the accelerater and going by the manual there is no way to adjust the idle speed . please has ayone any advise for me.
regards radiosoundman.

Try cleaning the Throttle body and or replace (IACV) idle air control valve

the answer to the slow idle was the re-learning by the engine management unit to reset , this took about 800 miles . in another forum it was talked about 400 miles for the emu to re-learn. advise given to me by an ex volvo engineer was correct he said to do nothing for a few weeks.
advise from a volvo dealership suggested a top end decoke although in fairness they did'nt see the car. hope this might help someone else.
