Hi, folks. This is my first official "post" (outside the intro section) and I hope I'm not doing the newbie thing of repeating the same question that's been posted 100 times before... but I swear I searched high & low in the forums first! So please don't flame me!

Ok. Here's the deal:

I had some problems with the car randomly dying, not starting for a bit & then starting like nothing had happened. The CEL came on so I grabbed the OBDII reader, got the P0705 code and came to the Volvo forums. Found out it was the PNP Sensor (thanks!) and ordered one online.

I'm not too shabby with a socket wrench, so I started yanking bits and pieces out from under the hood until I found the little bugger that was causing all my problems. (Ok, it wasn't that slap-dash of an attempt. I located it first, then pulled out the battery/tray, air intake hose & airbox.)

Now, I'm fairly familiar with engine parts & wiring harnesses... (I've wrenched on my 70's Dodge, an 85 Audi, a Honda or two and an 03 Dodge Neon SRT-4) but when I got to the junction box where the PNP sensor is wired into it... I was stumped. I pulled open the tabs on the side of the mount clip and tried to slide it out from the box, but the sucker won't budge. I take it there's some other plastic tabs holding it in place that I can't see? If any of you familiar with this swap could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey, I even went to the trouble of taking some photos of the darn thing so you would know what I'm talking about. Ain't that grand?

Any tips you can give me on how to remove this sucker with either tools, firearms or voodoo hexes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

On older cars that piece brakes pretty easy. You can just tape it up and reziptie it when your done. Pics are here:

sweet. Thanks for the reply... I replaced the part and it shifts beautifully now, but...

Now all of those repeated attempts to restart a 100,000 mile engine have taken their toll. I think I sprung oil leaks on my #2 & #4 rings. UGH.

The car runs great until it warms up (about 10 mins into a drive) and then #2 & 4 pistons go out.

When the car starts initially, there's oily smoke coming out of the exhaust for the first 2-3 mins. then it runs clean until the pistons stop firing--about 8 mins. later. I'm betting the plugs are coated nicely with oil when I pull 'em tomorrow.

Bugger.
