Our 1999 v70 (based in damp and not very cold Devon UK) has been a poor cold starter all along. Not every time - but enough to be worrying. I have mentioned this to the dealers but they say everthing is fine.

I wonder if anyone else has a similar experience and has found our what the problem is ? I'd be grateful for any suggestions

Have you had the throttle body cleaned lately?You should also have the fuel pressure checked.When it gets cold when you try to start it turn the key on and off a couple of times before cranking it.If that helps then the fuel pump is loosing its prime and will need to be replaced.
