I have a 2001 S40 with the 1.8i 122 BHP petrol engine and I am experiencing the following:

I am getting cabin noise which I think is a wheelbearing but Volvo mechanics say road noise. I have had the car up on the jacks and cannot find any wheelbearing noise but I am sure it is not road noise.

Also, the electronics, ie., trip counter, onboard computer and time clock zero themselves. This has occured on approx four occasions in three months.

Finally, dashboard lights seem to dull when engine is revved. I am driving with daylights off.

Any ideas? Would be pleased to hear from you. Thanks.

My Volvo is a 2005 S40, and this morning I observed the same problem you say with the time clock. It went to zero itself. And the other day the radio got hanged, just if it was a computer. I had to turn it on and off severals times until it worked properly again.

Respect the time clock, have you got any solution yet?
