Has anyone else experienced or diagnosed this?

What happens is I'll be driving with the A/C on, and shut the car off when I get home. I come outside later to hear the heater/A/C fan running. If I key on and key off again, it seems to go away.

It's not a huge deal, but I'm afraid some day it will kill the battery.

Any input is appreciated.

Jeff

My 2001 S60 does the same thing. I was told that this is part of the cooling process. Always happened on very hot days and longer driving. I had the same worry, but same battery for 100,000 miles now.

As of yesterday my 2001 V70 started doing the same thing, I must admit though that it was an extremely hot day.

My 2000 V70 T5 has done the same thing on several occassions. Always after parking in garage after a 40 - 60 minute drive on very hoy days. Glad to see I wasn't just "imagining" it!!

Not to worry about the fan is running. If voltage in the battery is to low the fan is not starting, because the "computer in the car" is checking the battery status before any function is starting.

My previous vehicle (1996 Chevrolet Tahoe) had this feature built in. It actually had an extra computer module in line with the blower harness. It was allegedly to blow out excess moisture so you would not get mold or mildew in teh ventilation system. Now you have me curious if the Volvo has the same feature...

according to the manual, on hot days and when the air conditioning is engaged, the blowers will turn on briefly 30 minutes after shutdown to prevent condensation inside the car.

first time mine did this, it totally tripped me out. then i found it in the manual

This is a good thing if you live in a hot humid place where the a/c runs a lot. My car was not delivered with this feature activated and developed an odor from a related problem.
