We have a 2002 V70 T5 with an integrated GSM phone. We have bought a SIM card for it and when we insert it in the phone and turn it on we get the "Please Wait" message. can't seem to get it to start up. The technician thinks it might be a faulty control module (replacement cost $3000 NZD so not going there!) but we're wondering if the SIM card needs to be registered first before it will load up ... if anyone has any idea that might help would appreciate it. Not a big deal as we have other mobiles but would be useful to know ...

I would try the sim-card in a ordinary phone to see if it works.
Or ask your dealer for a TotalCAN update.

I have the same problem with the 2001 xc70 i just bought. The phone starts up them crackles and dies. When i try to start it again it says please wait and does this for ever. I asked the local volvo mob and they have me booked in for a software upgrade. i hope this fixes it. I'll let u know
