I'd like to know what might be good for some power gains in my 92 245's B230f. It has 140k miles and a 5-speed m47 II tranny.

I was thinking of a TME VX cam and cam gear from ipd and already have a 2-1/4" cat-back exhaust with turbo muffler. A new high-flowcat may be on the way as well to replace the leaking stocker.

Something i thought of was maybe swapping the fuel injectors for some injectors for a B230ft. Will they fit and would they give me more power? Are they compatible with the wiring harness and fuel rail? etcetera.

I may be throwing together an air velocity intake system soon (springtime) with a cone filter. I heard that the oil in the common cotton gauze filters (K&N) may screw with the MAF sensor.

In the more advanced areas, what would be involved in a turbo install? Can I simply bolt on the B230ft's exhaust manifold, turbo, intercooler, and related piping and call it a day? Or is there computer and wiring swapping at hand?

Head port and polish? Nitrous injection? Anyone? Anyone?

I really realized the lack of oomph on a recent skiing trip where my poor little Brick could barely muster 50mph through New Hampshire's Franconia Notch due to wind. Thanks in advance for the help :D

Not sure what the 245 is, but here we go....

Why worry about larger fuel injectors when all you have is an exhaust so far? I ve moded a car to almost 100 hp over stock, and found no need for larger injectors.

The oil in filters is not good for the MAF sensor. IMO, either find one that doesnt use oil, or leave it the way it is.

And no offense, but if you are thinking of porting/polishing, a turbo system, etc., I would either get a new engine or do a rebuild. Why put all the stress on a 140k mile engine -and tranny for that matter?

(Moved to 245 forum. Should get a better response)

The reason nobody responded buddy was because it was in the wrong forum. :bwekk:

Alright, so the cam and gear will provide more power but not that much.

Adding a turbo is easy if you have all the parts near you. Check this out and I suggest joining www.turbobricks.com

The fuel injectors will be fine. Get some fuel injector additive if you're worried.

An air velocity system would be neat and I'd like to see how it turns out if you manage. I have never done it because I don't think it would get good airflow. The air intake right now is up in front of the radiator.

I wouldn't worry about porting and polishing the head unless you really get into the serious tuning. Wait until you've turbo'ed it and gotten a little farther.

In all honesty I would consider finding a B230FT block and just swapping it. It's pretty easy.

*EDIT*

I started a thread like this a while back in the swedespeed forums. Check it out.

Welcome,

There are lots of simple horsepower "secrets" that get overlooked. By reading through some of the past threads here you learn all sorts of things about your set up. An easy upgrade I like is a cyl head rebuild. Have valves professionally reground and at same time machine head to raise compression slightly. Go for a higher output coil, larger cold air intake like 3" with as few bends as possible. Run highest octane fuel available. Sounds like your exhaust is already opened up. I've ran only resonators on my past systems and works well but hard on the wife... If you are comfortable with efi fatten mixture screw at MAF a bit. I ran NOS on a 2.0 16V VW by adding a banjo to the enrichment (cold start) injector and was ok for small gains. I could have put that money in to my motor instead with permanent long term gains.
OR... buy a turbo car and convert yours over. This is probably the simplest bolt on plug-and-play go-fast secret out there that uses all factory parts and has lots of dealer supported info.

sweet dreams
