Has anyone experienced the following..
Car simply cuts out when driving ..Car will not pick up rev and then dies ,although engine will turn over initially..

It started in Nov 06 when wife reported car was cutting out when driving and then would not restart ..... called RAC who managed to start it (car 1 year old) 12000 miles ....took it to Bay Track Cardiff (who would not provide courtesy car) told us air in fuel problem !

Problem started again over Xmas with car cutting out and loosing power ,similar to fuel starvation ....Then today ,,car would not turn over ,died onn starting and had to call RAC out who could not repair at roadside..Car waiting to be recoveed by RAC and taken back to Baytrack who again seem unsympathetic to the problem and inconvenience caused ,I have had to len my car to the wife for her to get to work and I have had to take a days holiday to sort the problem out..

History of this car not good ,had a new clutch 8 weeks after purchase from Baytrack (New) and as stated still only 12,000 miles on clock and still smells of rotten eggs when reversing on a hil or if stress on clutch.

Any ideas

I have a similar problem with my 2006 V50 2.0D where occasionally the revs suddenly drop when I first start off. The engine starts up fine and ticks over nicely but when I press the throttle the revs increase to around 2000rpm then die. This causes me to either stall or kangaroo along the road. After a few seconds of stumbling the car comes back to life and is ok.

The car has been into the dealers 3 times for "software updates" and the last time they replaced the EGR valve (exhaust gas release valve). This still hasn't fixed it. Whenever the car goes in they are unable to reproduce the problem and there aren't any fault codes or warning lights. This means they are totally clueless as to what the problem is and they don't seem to be interested in actually trying to diagnose it.

Bad volvo, I wonder if these problems are somehow related to your car? I have read about other similar faults but all different in someway. I have not yet experienced the cutting out that you have had whilst driving.

Let us know if you have any joy getting yours fixed.

Jamie

I've just read on another forum that there is sometimes a probelm with the accelerator pedal swicth - as our cars are drive-by-wire - this may casue some of the symptoms you are describing.

So far, mine's been okay, 40k miles and going strong.

Thanks Marmoset, I'll be sure to mention it when I next visit the dealer!
