I have a 1994 Mercury Topaz that apparently has a busted water pump. I noticed puddles of anitfreeze under my car and further evaluation suggests the leak is coming from the water pump. I was told, however, that water pumps will make a squealing noise when they need replaced. I've never heard this before. I would just like to find out if this is true and if it could possibly be something else.

If the seals are torn, i dont know if they will make the same squealing noise.

the water pump on my volvo never made a squealing...a really bad knocking actually...took the belt off and you could wiggle the shaft alot!!
