Hello Gang,
I have a 2003 XC90 with Premium Audio and an iPod with the FM Transmitter and the reception from the transmitter is horrible. I know that there is no device that connects directly into the 2003 XC90 radio however, does anyone know if it is possible to use the same Premuim Radio out of a 2007 model since it has the auxillary inputs. I did call my dealer and the parts guy said that I cannot switch my Premium Radio for the basic radio in the 2007 because of the brain. Maybe I should not have hung up on him after trying to ask what the difference is with the basic radio and premium radio in the 2007 model. My dealer has not been too helpful when I ask questions over the phone and I cannot make the 30 minute trip to the dealer to ask in person. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The guy at the dealer is correct. The XC90 central electronic module(Brain) changes in 2005 to a different type and CAN network speed. Volvo do provide software applications to retrofit different models of radio, but I imagine the high end radios interface with sub woofer modules and contain very different software.

But can you do this with a 2005 XC90 to a 2007 or 2008 head units to have the other inputs?

Hello and greetings from Belfast.

No upgrades or additional expensive Volvo bits required.

Have a look here... http://imiv.ca/cms/

This unit will go in via your CD-changer terminal and not only allow you to play your ipod directly through your existing headunit, but will even display song, artist and playlist info on the Volvo headunit. If you have the Volvo Satnav screen it will even play ipod video on the screen. Steering wheel buttons control tracks etc too.

It's the best accessory I've ever bought. Took me only 20 minutes to get up and running.

Hope this helps.

Brian.

Does it work on the 005 XC90? I do not see that car listed. What car do you install it in.

I have a 2004 5 cylinder XC 90. I too have an IPOD and I am looking for some advice on intergrating my IPOD. I have the 6 cd changer which is MP3 compatible but I am unsure of the solution. I saw something at best buy that integrates to your existing stereo but I am a little aprehensive to do the install. Was anyone able to find products that work well.
