Hey all

My friend and I were replacing the drivers side ball joint (2001 S60 tse) but looks as though we've pulled the driveshaft out a touch too much. we;ve took the boot joint back and seen the bearings have come out of the central ring (im not too car friendly!). My friend knows about cars and knows in principal what we need to do but he's not seen a design like this. We put the bearings back in but the central "bit" - what the driveshaft goes back into does not pivot so we can assume its not in correctly.

Any ideas where we might be going wrong.

Many thanks for any help!!

Cheers

Andrew

I too had the same problem as you and spent a good hour trying to get the bearings in without them falling in front of the driveshaft. I think you need to see if the bearings are all in the right place and the driveshaft is not turned one notch round as i found this makes a difference. The shaft should move in and out freely. I could not find any thing on this subject other than your post. I hope this helps... Stuart
