[B]Parrot Bluetooth 3100 looks/feels same as Volvo BT kit - but it has caller ID. BT through Volvo is supposed to go through car speakers/mute radio for incoming calls/etc... I really wanted the caller ID version over the Motorola non-caller ID - it's been at Tweeter's all day today - they can't figure out how to connect speakers as radio unit is all fiber optic.

Just curious if anyone has tried the Parrot - comments/advice/anything?

Thanks....
Layne

Well, you are probably long done with this, but for posterity's sake -

The Volvo Motorola Bluetooth unit doesn't technically interact with the stock audio system. It has it's own audio amplifier in it, and a DPDT relay, which effectively switches over two of the front speakers to it's amplifier when a call comes in, and switches them back to the stock amp when you hang up.

As for the mute - All Volvo audio systems since '94 (And some premium systems before that) up till now ('07+) have a simple 12v signal mute wire that was designed for legacy use with a hardwire phone system.

It's pretty easy to use any hard wire BT adapter - just take a look at the VIDAS instructions for your car and duplicate their harness (or just tap the wires). Either way, its a crummy system.

The Parrot BT HF is nice though, I've got one myself.
