Living in Canada, in winter we need to use a washer fluid that contains anti-freeze and I notice that every time the headlamp washers spray, some of the fine mist is sucked into the car via the front grill. This causes the cabin to smell and passengers to be forced to breathe in washer/anti-freeze for a minute or two. Have any other northern climate drivers noticed this? I've asked our dealer about disconnecting the headlamp washers, but have not been able to get them to say definitively whether or not they can do it. Personally, I think the headlamp washers are pretty gimmicky to begin with, but they came as part of the upgrade package.

I have posted something similar to this before. I live in Wisconsin and have the exact same problem. I'm no doctor, but I can't imagine that breathing these fumes is real healthy??? I also think the location of the key vs. the windshield wiper/spray control lever is in a poor location, such that I tend to bump the spray "on" when I put the key in.

Update: In case this issue is bothering anyone else, we just had the fuse that controls the headlamp washers disconnected by our service department yesterday and the problem is gone. Ok, so the headlamps may not be as clean, but at least we won't be inhaling any more anti-freeze. I'd say that's a worthwhile trade-off. By the way, not sure if the fix is as easy for all years/models, but it works for 2007s.
