I have a 2005 V50 T5. Bought it used at 14,000miles and am up to 24,000 since May. For the most part I have been pleased with the auto and have become adjusted to the stiffer, more "european" ride.

I have what I think might be a normal wind whistle caused by a loose window/door seal. The suspect window is the front drivers side but it could be just from the front drivers general area. The dealer of course couldn't replicate the noise. They sprayed the car with high pressure water and found no leeks. I've searched high and low can can't see any rips or tares in the window/door seals.

I'm about to have the dealership replace the window and door seals on the front drivers door in hopes that it cures the problem. Before I did I thought I'd through this out to see if anybody else has faced a simular problem.

My 240 made noise at 55mph and above. Turned out to be the rubber seal at top of windshield had come out during pressure washing. Popped it back in, no more noise.

I also have an '05 V50 w/ 20K miles on it. My opinion is that it has had quite a bit of wind noise since the day I drove it off the lot, however, I have not done anything to check into it, as this tends to be a difficult thing to fix. I also thought it might just be the European design/performance that I wasn't used to? Let me know if you have any luck with this. Note that the noise in my vehicle seems to come from both of the front doors, as if the windows do not seal tightly when rolled up?

Also note the unbearable wind noise inside the vehicle when the passenger window is down at high speeds.

Yes, if I roll down the back windows at highway speeds there is a terrible thumping noise that develops. I don't drive around with the back windows down often so it's not a big deal.

If I can figure out where this whisling noise is comming from I'll be sure to let everybody know.

My wife and I just bought a V50 (our first Volvo, but most definitely not our last), a 2006 T5 AWD, and we noticed the wind noise right off the bat. It's not horrible, but my wife, who is the primary driver of the car, says that she keeps thinking the windows aren't up all the way.

I'm glad to see it's not just us, but now I'm thinking it's just the way they're built. It's driving her crazy. Me, I just turn the music up. :)

As for the thumping noise; that's an air pressure thing. I drive a Dodge Stratus (like I said, the Volvo belongs to my wife), and I get the same thing when I have the sunroof open and all 4 windows all the way up. To solve it I equalize the pressure by cracking the driver's side window open a bit. As for Ltlabner's back windows, yeah, generally not having them down on the highway is the best bet. :P

Slainte!
