Hi Everyone,

I have noticed that in some discussions it has been mentioned the 2007 models come with an MP3/WMA CD unit.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to have the CD unit replaced on 2005-2006 models with the MP3/WMA one and what is involved to do that.

Meanwhile I'll ask my Volvo dealer as well since I didn't have chance so far.

Any comments regarding the above would be more than appreciated, as always

There are some threads at SwedeSpeed that you might find helpful regarding the installation of an FM Modulator in 2005-2006 V50/S40.

My research for that comes with this answer: Although you buy and install the unit of 2007 model Volvo doesn't install the software to all previous models. This is certain and you can't do anything for this except to stay speechless !!!

hi, the 2007 model is different to that of the pre 07. the newer one has an integrated am/fm receiver, so you would need to route the antenna cables to the front of the car and then rewire the electrics to give it a power, earth, switch etc, i recon it can be done, if the delaers will reprogram the system for you

Yep, I've checked with several Volvo dealers and they won't do it (replacing the existing unit with a newer one).
