Hi all from a newbie to this forum.

A few days ago the Check Engine Light came on and has been on from the time I turn the ignition to the time I turn it off. I put the OBD reader ( a Scan Gauge II) on it and came up with code P2407.

After combing the internet and various forums for a either a simple explaination of P2407 or a source where I could find out, I'm still stumped.

I don't want to zero the code out until I know what it is and every time I call the dealer for information on this, that, or the other, they want the car back in their garage to the tune of $$$s.

It's an '03 V70 T5 5sp. @ 36K mileage with all the Scan Gauge stats falling in line with normal operating perameters (as far as I can tell, anyway). The engine sounds and performs fine - no changes, and it's the first time the Check Engine Light has come on.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi Vince,

This is from www.scantool.net:

P2407 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Intermittent/Erratic

Not sure if this helpful at all.

Hello,

Check the petrol filler cap, if the cap is not correct placed, you must hear the clicking sound or if you have airleak in the cap, change to a new cap Erase the code and drive and wait if the code comes back.

Good luck!

Alright!

Thanks to both for responding (have been without internet for a few days).
Evaporative Emission System Leak Detection Pump Sense Circuit Intermittent/Erratic sounds enough to me like a possible gas, err... petrol cap problem that I'll try that again tomorrow morning.
Will zero out the code, rubber band a plastic bag over the fill stem (with the gas cap srcewed over top of that) and see if the light/DTC come back up again over a few hours of driving.
Thanks again to "regu" for the www.scantool.net address. Got it bookmarked.

Shouldn't think so. The handbook for the 2000 model for the diesel engines says you can mix 20% petrol or 40% kerosene into the diesel for cold weather running.

(I'm pretty sure you shouldn't mix 40% diesel into a petrol engine car for hot weather running mind....)

The point being, a bit of a change in fuel shouldn't cause a problem. On the T5 / R / etc high powered engines you may notice a difference between 95 octane and 98 octane, but otherwise should be fine.

Hope that helps!

Chris
