I want to paint my '86 Volvo 740 GLE from silver (grey) to a midnight black colour. How much is that gonna run me? The car has no rust anywhere whatsoever, a sunroof, and 4 doors. How much am i looking at here?

Get a couple quotes, then you'll know how much it will cost

:cat:

For what this is worth-there are many cheap options at there. Think carefully about repainting a car.

To do the whole job properly, the engine bay, the door sills and arches and boot (trunk I think) has to be repainted as well as the exterior.

I've seen prices from $1,500 to $5,000.

Some painters will not do a cheap job anymore. The owner disappointment is not worth the bad PR. Also, a different coloured exterior could affect your resale value negatively.

ok, thanks guys!

I got a quote for $1000, and up to $3000. Those vary from very well known auto body painters, and to privately owned painters. I'm going to take it into the $1000 place and ask them what they'll do for me. I got my headliner price fixed at $300, taking it in on tuesday. I can't wait!

:amen: Pray.

Pray that it doesn't look like something the county council painted for the water works in 1946.

Good luck.

uh oh, bad experience?

Before I get the car painted I want to make sure some of their previous work is up to par with my standards. I'm confident I'll get a nice paint job, however i wont be painting it for some time.

I'd say it would depend on the kind of paint. 2k paint vs 3k paint, etc...

2k, 3k. meaning $2000 paint and $3000 paint?

I have to save up for that. Or just win some sort of radio contest, man i wish it would happen to me:P. I COULD call a rich relative...NEED CASH FOR CAR, HELP? who knows, hah.

No, no. I believe they refer to the composition of the paints and how the paints look at finish.
