So I've had a problem with the driver's seat on my '06 S40. I've only had the car a little over a month and the seat makes a knocking noise and doesn't feel secure on it's tracks..

Anyway, I took it into the dealer once before which only temporarily fixed the problem. I finally took it again this morning and was informed that a bulletin was just posted about this problem on all S40s. Apparently they have to change the bolting pattern of the seats and add more felt around the tracks. So far it sounds fine. But we'll see over the next couple days.

Just thought I'd let everyone know about the bulletin in case they had the same problem too.

I have this noise too. it drives me nuts. so far, i have had the following problems with my s40:

- barking dog noise (still have it)
- outside temperature gage not working (fixed)
- car locks and windows not working (fixed)
- knocking noisy driver seat (still have it)

I went to the dealer today and asked about this bulliten because my seat makes noises all the time, anyway, I was told there is no bulliten out about the seats, and that the noises it makes were "normal". Can you send me this bulliten or tell me where I could find it so I can prove to them there is a problem. Thanks!

Has anyone found this bulletin, I heard something on my seat too and I want to get it fixed before it gets worse.

My first post on this forum.:) Owned two V40's 1998-2001 and returned back "home" just recently.

Raising an old topic...the driver's seat on my 2006 S40 has been "clicking" for 2 months now, especially in turns. It feels like the seat was loose even though I know its not. The car has been at the dealership three times during the past three months and last time they claimed they replaced some bolts. Didn't help.

Taking the car back to the dealership on Thursday.

Anyone had this issue resolved somehow? Thanks!

Finally a solution - quoting the dealers invoice: "Verified noise with the customer, creaking from LF seat around corners, removed seat installed Volvo spray lube #1161614 at point indicated by hotline. Noise is still present. Removed seat and backrest and lubed backrest contact points and inner circumference of long tube on bottom frame. Road tested - noise is gone." Sweet!
