What sort of details are you looking for ? I have access to an exploded diagram from a VADIS CD ROM (Volvo Aftersales Diagnostics & Information System) which gives a complete guide how to do this. It wont let me cut and paste anything.
If you still need to know how to do this - if you can get your hands on a copy it has everything you need. If you can't let me know directly and I'll see what I can do.

If you are just going to replace the mirror glass in the side mirror, see this site for instructions: http://www.borton.com/images/s80repl.jpg

If you need to replace the entire side mirror, ianu has the best suggestion. You'll want to review VADIS as you'll need to pull the door panel off the get to the mirror wiring. It's not so difficult (I had to do mine a few months ago) but the VADIS documentation is of great help to get the top of the door handle off to get to the Torx screws.

I just joined and I've got the same problem...need to install passenger side mirror, and need to know how to remove door panel without damaging it. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi there - I'd recommend doing a quick search on e-bay for the VADIS disk. It cost me £5 and is everything you could possibly want to know. I bought it so I could work out how to replace a cracked front fog light as it obviously isn't a 5 minute job - perfect.

you need a knife, a t25 torx bit, and a 13mm socket. take the knife and look for a seam to a cover on the door pull handle. it is the handle running up and down on the door, keep prying the cover and it will come off. there are 2 t25 screws behind this cover. take out the screws. look at the door handle running front to back in the car. there is a panel inside it that will come out. pry the side up that is on the inner side of the car. there is another torx screw there. remove the black triangle at the top of the door panel by pulling straight out. now try to get your hand behind the door panel. you need to pull on the panel now. there are around 6 or 8 retainers behind the door that you need to pop off. the door panel should be hanging by some wires at this point. disconnect the green connector that goes to the mirror. remove the 13mm nut from the inside of the door and slide the mirror out. the connector should fit through a rectangular hole in the door. installation is reverse of removal.

Bringing back a bit of an old post but it has 90% of what I need except that there are two spring like pieces of wire on the back of my replacement mirror (it seems to be universal as there are the symbols RH near one and LH near the other) - does anyone know where they fix in as you install the glass? Thanks for the help.
