I have a new(to me) 89 740 turbo wagon... I just had the heater core replaced and it runs great, but at night I have no lights in the gauge cluster... I dont think it is the bulbs, but I have not taken out the cluster yet. My uncle thinks it is the dimmer rheostat. Also I have lots of radio static and a saggy headliner like everyone else...ha ha ha Thanks for any help!!

I seem to be having the same problem. I have an 89 740 turbo wagon that is also new to me but at night I have no light in the odometer console. I'm going to check and see if it is a dimmer issue. Has any one else had this problem and fixed it?

Hello

My 89 740GL Sedan has recently decided not to light up the temp gauge.
Took out the console via the 2 screws and found that the bulb was fine just loose. Tightened it all up and everything back to normal.
Now if you have no lights at all anywhere I dunno, but pull out the thing and make sure all is tight.

its a lose connection behind your cluster or so i believe, my dash lights have went out and i was only able to see the 2 turn signal lights lit up and the high beam light lit up when the highbeams were off. after mindlessly reaching around behind the cluster i was able to find the wire and tighten it up, it has happened 1-2 since then and just wiggling that wire does the trick. i cant say where it is but its in the top left somewhere when you reach behind the cluster. i have a 1988 volvo 740 GLE btw.
