Nov 2004 Volvo V50 T5 Petrol. Feeling of engine misfiring leading to sudden power loss leading to engine cutting out. Very dangerous as happens suddenly. Need urgent advice. Car has done 104000 miles.

have the same problem with my v50. happened briefly a couple of times on the motorway and was very frightening. All the lights died on the dash and radio went off briefly. Took car to volvo and said they couldn't find a fault. Nothing i could do but get paranoid it would happen again. Nothing happened for 6 months until today when it happened again, total loss of power for a few seconds. Don't know what triggers it assume it's some sort of electrical fault. Had my volvo from new but can't live with it doing this - too dangerous and scarey. Going to trade it in for something else - shame 'cause i love my car !! Good luck with yours.
