I've looked around in various places but I can't seem to find a good description of the differences between the various years of the 740. I have a beautiful (to me) 87 740 GLE that I'm restoring. Since it would make sense to pick up a spare parts car the question is "do I have to have the same year?" I think the answer is no but I would like some advice. I understand there will be differences in drive train options in even the same model/year. I'm generally speaking about body exterior and interior components. Or, if someone knows a good link to a site for info of this nature I would be grateful.

good sources are ipdusa.com, fcpgroton.com, vlvworld.com Vlvworld show different models. I think whatever engine they have i.e. B230FT, B230FD, etc should have interchangeable parts but check those websites. Its how mine keep running. bill
